The upcycling installation I Hope to See a Bright Future One Day is inspired by the idea of recycling textile waste and the solarpunk movement focused on a sustainable future, which sees solar energy as the central point of transforming the relationship to resources and new approaches to renewable energy sources. The artist embarks on research through everyday household objects (in this case a lamp) that she moves from the private space of the home to the public environment and combines the roles of a useful and artistic object. Visually, the lamps look like sketches torn from a sketchbook and turned into objects, so-called alive doodles – drawings come to life as luminous objects on a green public surface. The lamps are made using discarded textiles and are powered by solar energy, and the entire work exudes a DIY work ethic. The lamps interact with the natural environment where they react to the given spatial framework and refine the space of the staircase.
