Levalet

Charles Leval, known as Levalet, was born in 1988 in Epinal. He grew up in Guadeloupe, a region where he encountered urban culture and later visual arts. He continued his studies in visual arts in Strasbourg; his work, then more focused on video, was nourished by a dedicated theatrical practice. He obtained his agrégation (a teaching qualification) in 2012, the year his work began to take place in the streets of Paris and elsewhere. In 2013, he began exhibiting in galleries and participating in international events. Levalet's work is primarily a work of drawing and installation. He stages his characters, drawn in Indian ink, in public spaces, in a visual and semantic dialogue with the surrounding environment. The characters interact with the architecture and unfold in situations often bordering on the absurd.
