Our sisters

The piece Our Sisters focuses on the exploration of female solidarity – not only as an emotional connection, but also as a historical force that made the survival of communities possible. The installation embodies the moments when women help each other, transfer knowledge between generations, share burdens to uphold themselves. It testifies to a network of invisible threads which have for centuries bound the lives of women, often unrecognised in official narratives, but crucial for the society’s survival. The forms inside the installation intertwine and lean on each other, creating a visual and physical metaphor of interdependence. Not a single figure stands on its own – each is stable only because it is connected with others. This arrangement is not an accident; it mimics the ways the communities function, the way support flows in both directions and the way resilience is born out of connection. Our Sisters is not only a work of art, it is also an homage to all the quiet, invisible, but crucial forms of work and care given by women – from day-to-day acts of kindness to collective acts of resistance. It is a memorial to sisterhood, and an invitation to its active practice, today just as indispensable as throughout history.
