Traces of Summer

I immerse myself into the summer as in a changed state of mind, a space where the body breathes differently, where senses become deeper, slower and more present. A walk to the mountains, a cold river or salt in the hair, fruit in our hands and the whisper of the wind leave traces I never want to forget. I make a note of what the body remembers: being awake at torrid nights, a barefoot step, fluidity of thoughts and movements. I grasp the colours that don’t fade in the sun and I carry them with me into new seasons.

Traces of Summer consist of floating photographs which react to light, air and time. They don’t tell a story, rather they create an atmosphere. They don’t evoke nostalgia, rather they elicit presence, call for slowing down, breathing and acknowledging one’s own inner summers. This is an attempt at keeping the sense of summer, what constantly eludes us, alive in the breath, image and moment.
